Christina Cole as Cassie Hughes

Shy and vulnerable Cassie was easily taken in by the charms of the handsome fallen-angel Azazeal who persuaded her to have a relationship with him, which happily for him, produced a son – an heir.  Sadly, while trying to prevent Ella from killing her son so that she might rid the world of future evil, Cassie was sacrificed on the church's altar.  Did her protective maternal instincts enable what would signal the beginning of the end for the human race?

Actress Christina Cole performed extensively on stage while studying at Oxford School of Drama, showing her diverse talent in roles ranging from Kitty in Anna Karennina to Glauke in Medea. Since graduating, she has appeared in He Knew He Was Right, All About Me and The Project for the BBC, and most recently she has starred in Foyle's War and Hex. Her film work includes What a Girl Wants (2003) and Light (2002).

Jemima Rooper as Thelma Bates

Though dead, rest in peace is not a term that Thelma knows first hand.   Now that the love of her life, Cassie is dead, and has left behind a son who was a baby one day, and a grown man the next, Thelma's got her work cut out for her.  She's spending her days and nights convincing Leon to break Ella out of psychiatric wards, and in general trying to save the world from Cassie's half inhuman spawn – this definitely cuts into her snacking time.

Jemima Rooper's extensive film, television, theatre, and radio experience includes three seasons on As If, Wives and Daughters, The Famous Five, and Hex. Along with tele-films such as The Railway Children, Junk, Summer in the Suburbs, and The Passion, Rooper has appeared in film projects that include A Sound of Thunder (2005), Hermit of Amsterdam (2002), Snapshots (2002) and Kinky Boots (2005).

Laura Pyper as Ella Dee

If you've lived for 500 years you've seen a lot. Ella has been waging war against Azazeal and his band of fallen angels many times before but this time it's different.  The only way to stop the Nephelim entirely is to kill Malachi, son of Cassie and Azazeal.  With such finality hanging in the balance, Azazeal will not make it easy for Ella and her life is most definitely in danger.  They'll do everything in their power to stop her from succeeding.

A newcomer to HEX, actress Laura Pyper has started to assemble the beginnings of what looks to become a formidable acting résumé. Already a regular cast veteran of a pair of television series -- Bachelor's Walk and the BAFTA Award-winning Omagh -- Pyper has guest starred in the series Holby City. In 2004 she starred in the highly acclaimed Irish film Head Rush and in 2002 she starred alongside Mathew McConaughey and Christian Bale in the sci-fi movie Reign of Fire.

Michael Fassbender as Azazeal

Bewitchingly handsome and possessing the confidence of one who has spanned the centuries, Azazeal is leader of the Nephelim, a band of fallen angels that have been around since the beginning of recorded time.  He is also the father of Malachi, his rightful heir to the thrown of fallen angels and here to ensure that the balance of evil overrides that of good in the world.  He is fiercely protective of his half-human son, for he knows the damage that can be inflicted by Ella Dee and how it would change the course of history if something should befall him.

Along with the recent film projects A Bear Named Winnie and the BBC's The Return of Sherlock Holmes (with Rupert Everett), Michael Fassbender has a growing television résumé that includes Gunpowder, Treason & Plot (2004) and Band of Brothers. With his own production company, Peanut Productions, he produced, directed and performed in a stage version of Reservoir Dogs. Other film credits include Goldfish, Specks in the Sky and 300.

Jamie Davis as Leon Tyler

Love conquers all, even if one is a jackass to start with it seems.  Leon has fallen hard for Ella and has really proved himself to have the makings of a decent guy.  He has all but shunned his fair weather friends like Roxanne – which does not please her at all but Leon doesn't care.  He's seen what he wants and is going after it.  Love makes fools of everyone…let's hope that it doesn't prove deadly for Leon.

Best known for his role as Harley Lawson in the hit series Footballers' Wives – one that he has reprised in the new Footballers' Wive$: Overtime -- Jamie Davis has begun to make a name for himself in the world of film and television.  In addition to his regular role as Hex's Leon, he has been a guest star on the series Heartbeat, Trevor's World of Sport, Doctors, and Where the Heart Is.  In 2006, Davis debuted in director Brian Cook's feature film Colour Me Kubrick with John Malkovich.

Joseph Beattie as Malachi

Like any teenager, Malachi likes to make trouble, but when your father is a fallen angel and you are blessed, or cursed with dark powers, the trouble you cause is a bit more dangerous.  He went from a baby one day, to a full grown man the next without a stop in between.  Even though he is positioned to be the ruler of all that is dark and glorious, his human side tugs at him when he finds himself attracted to the very person whose mission it is to destroy him.

A veteran with a recurring role as Holby City's Robert Pullman, actor Joseph Beattie has a variety of credits for films, telefilms and television series.  His feature film résumé includes 1994's The Browning Version with Albert Finney, Greta Scacchi and Matthew Modine, director Todd Haynes' Velvet Goldmine with Ewan McGregor and Christian Bale, and the upcoming Eating Dust.

On television, Beattie has been a regular in the series Vincent alongside EastEnders star Joe Absolom, and has appeared in the telefilms Seesaw, Tom Brown's Schooldays, Colditz, and Malice Aforethought.

Sam Troughton as Jez

He's righteous on the outside, but lethal on the inside.  Jez is a deceiver and servant of the fallen angels.  He's working for Azazeal from the inside at Medenham so he can keep tabs on Ella and make sure she remains innocuous to Malachi and the others.  He's enlisted none other than self proclaimed sexpot, Roxanne as his concubine and encourages her to spy on her friends and report to him in their daily…meetings.

Sam Troughton comes from a long line of actors. His father David, Grandfather Patrick, Uncle Michael and Cousin Harry Melling are all actors. Sam’s television credits include Robin Hood, Hex, Gunpowder, Treason & Plot and Summer in the Suburbs. He has also appeared in such films as Vera Drake, Sylvia with Gwyneth Paltrow and Spirit Trap.
