Welcome to Phoenix Rising, the official fanlisting for the incredibly talented actor, River Phoenix.

Regarded by critics as one of the most promising young actors to emerge during the late eighties and early nineties, River Phoenix had appeared in numerous movies before his twentieth birthday, these included Running on Empty, A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. However he is probably best known for his role in the coming-of-age film Stand by Me where he appeared alongside Wil Wheaton, Corey Feldman and Jerry O'Connell; and the road movie My Own Private Idaho, where he played a gay, narcoleptic street hustler. Phoenix's bright career was cut short by his tragic death from a drug-overdose at the age of twenty-three.
